The paradox of flows: Can hope flow from fear?
January 12th, Christopher Marcinkoski and Andrew Moddrell kick-off a pair of parallel and collaborative urban design studios at PENN and UIC respectively, exploring the future development of Goose Island as a digital technology and manufacturing hub in the context of the North Branch of the Chicago River and the city beyond. The exhibition opened April 5th and will close January 4th, The goal of Design Access is to create a shared vision among leading decision makers for how to leverage design as a tool for social gain.

GovHack 2013 – A national approach for inspiring government
More details here. The two-day symposium will feature six discussion panels addressing different strategies for "making space" across various scales and disciplines.
Making Space will curate an interchange between expanded design practices in order to frame new agendas; articulate new strategies; establish new priorities; and orient new connectivities capable of generating new, catalytic platforms for design. More details here: LINK.

The symposium speculated on the ability for urban networks and synthetic systems to become productive environments in our cities and was organized as part of an exhibition of student work from the University of Illinois School of Architecture funded by the Rotch Scholarship.

September 10, Christopher Marcinkoski met up with Dr. Suzuki's long-running documentary program for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The episode is scheduled to air in early July 27, Christopher Marcinkoski participated in the Municipal Art Society of New York's Waterside Pier charrette that explored ideas for re-envisioning a former Consolidated Edison site that stretches from 38th to 41st Streets along the East River.
